This blog is a place where I share the stories behind my love for Johannesburg, my journey through photography, and the deeper philosophical lessons I’ve learned along the way. It’s a reflection of my personal experiences, not just in capturing moments but in how photography has shaped my perspective on life.
Johannesburg is my muse. It’s a city that, like photography, reveals its beauty only to those willing to slow down and truly look. On the surface, it might seem like a place full of chaos, noise, and constant motion, but for those who take the time to explore its streets, there's so much more to uncover. The vibrant energy, the diverse cultures, the contrasts of old and new—Jozi's layers run deep, and every corner tells a different story.
Getting to know Jozi from behind the lens has challenged all my assumptions about “Beauty” and opened the unseen world of the metaphysical. This never ending source of creativity has led me to lean on philosophy as my guide, introducing to my beloved Stoics whose powerful principles to life are reflected in almost every constructive belief system and religion I have ever come across!
Philosophy plays a huge role in how I approach both photography and life. It reminds me to slow down and be mindful, to focus on what’s within my control and let go of the rest. In a city like Johannesburg, where things can change in an instant, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But just like in photography, sometimes it’s about waiting for the right moment, being patient, and knowing when to click the shutter.
In this blog, I want to take you on that journey with me, through the streets of Johannesburg, through my experiences as a photographer, and through the lessons I’ve learned along the way. We’ll explore the philosophy behind why we photograph, the stories behind the images, and how photography can be a tool for both personal and creative growth.
